Prescribing pattern of antibiotic regimen in inpatients with uncomplicated urinary tract infection

Introduction: Uncomplicated urinary tract infection is among the more common infections in females. The S3 guideline contains recommendations based on current evidence for rational use of anti - microbial agents and prevention inappropriate certain classes antibiotics thus resulting drug resistance. Methodology: A hospital based, prospective, observational type study to be conducted Inpatient department, Government general hospital, Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. Study was over a period 6 months (September 2019 Feb 2020). Results: According our study, patients with illiterate (26) were mostly affected when compared literate (24), housewives uUTI (44) age group 18-33 (23), 49-63 people less uUTI(8) . Cystitis commonly seen (43) compare pyelonephritis. Ceftriaxone prescribed other (27). Conclusion: We found that majority treated third- generation cephalosporine class (ceftriaxone) followed by ciprofloxacin, nitrofurantoin.
